New norms and standards for marking rhino horn and trophy hunting will be implemented immediately, Environmental Affairs Minister Edna Molewa said on Monday.

The rights of farmers are under the microscope this week as the SA government proposes legislation that will have far-reaching implications for seed and plant propagation.

'Any company or government department that doesn't comply with the environmental laws could face bills amounting to billions of rands and might even be compelled to shut down.'

'Several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food. There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation.'
