Oh behalf of Sustainable Seas Trust I'd like to invite you to be a part of the SEA Pledge Action Day! SEA Pledge is a project of SST that will be launched at COP17 in Durban to promote awareness and investment in marine research and conservation.
Given your commitment to communicating green initiatives throughout South Africa, Sustainable Seas Trust urges you, your colleagues, friends and family to join the SEA Pledge crusade to take better care of the oceans and coasts. Add your name to SST’s petition to the United Nations at COP 17 by making your SEA Pledge today!
A SEA Pledge is a commitment you make to reduce your negative footprint and increase your positive handprint. By making a pledge, you not only challenge yourself to achieve greater sustainability, but you also help others, especially those less fortunate than you. If you make a pledge, your name is automatically added to SST’s petition to the UN. Therefore, you only need to do one or the other. Pledges are more definitive, but if you or your colleagues are not ready or need time to think about their pledge, at least sign the petition.
signal your concern
By signing the petition, you signal your concern to the United Nations and urge them to invest in caring for coastal communities and in research projects to help sustain the oceans by declaring an International Year of Coasts and Oceans. Dr. Tony Ribbink, the Director of Sustainable Seas Trust, is an invited speaker at the Global Forum for Oceans, Coasts and Islands during COP 17 this year in Durban. After he has made his presentation, four South African children will present the petition to the Global Forum on 3 December as part of SEA Pledge Day of Action. We urge you to add your name to our petition and help us spread the word about this important cause!
