eco warriors step forward

A former Miss South Africa and self'proclaimed Eco-Warrior, Michelle is also a member of this year's judging panel and met some of the Miss Earth SA contestants at the recent Cape Town castings, held at the jane iredale concept store in Sea Point. 'I was amazed by the extent of environmental knowledge displayed by some of the girls', she comments. 'It is very encouraging to hear so much conviction at such a young age and to see their willingness to take a stand against the chemical and toxic burdens to which our bodies are exposed through fast-paced modern living.' Catherine Constantinides, National Director of the Miss Earth South Africa programme, echoes the sentiment. 'Castings have been held in Cape Town, Durban and Joburg so far and we've been constantly amazed by the calibre of entrant this year. As judges we look for someone who can represent the achievement of a balanced lifestyle, incorporating a sustainable way of life that benefits both the individual and the environment. The girls who have been interviewed so far certainly embrace this and I believe it's going to be a tough decision'. She adds; 'We're so pleased to have jane iredale and someone of Michelle's standing on board for this year's project.
