Description: Professor James Clark has an international reputation for his work in green chemistry and is a founding director of the Green Chemistry Network. He was also the founding Scientific Editor for the world's leading journal in the field, Green Chemistry, and an author of numerous books on the subject. He now holds the Chair of Industrial & Applied Chemistry at the University of York and heads the Clean Technology Centre which integrates green chemistry research, industrial collaboration, educational developments and issues relevant to the public understanding of science. He is the current Director of the Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence and heads the Green Chemistry Group at York University. His research interests focus on the exploitation of renewable resources.

Professor Clark has been invited by the University of Cape Town’s Department of Chemistry in association with the British Council to host a series of talks as part of the Africa Knowledge Transfer Project (AKTP). During his visit, Professor Clark will highlight the importance of green technologies for a sustainable livelihood.
