Level & Style

The course presents a variety of concepts and terminology across science, technology and finance, but all are explained in a clear, business-friendly manner
Thus the course assumes no prior technical or financial background and is specifically designed for newcomers to both, or to those with knowledge in one of these areas but looking to place it in the context of the other. It is not intended as a course for experienced solar engineers
It will appeal to business decision-makers from a variety of job roles and sectors, requiring a thorough and rounded subject review, a market-focused discussion, and a chance to meet like-minded professionals
Content is delivered throughout in an informal, interactive manner, encouraging questions and discussion
Attendees will have time to perform simple calculations, use excel-based financial models and take part in group discussions in order to revise and quantify the key learning points

Course lecturer:

Dr John Massey is Green Power Academy’s Training Director and lead Renewable Energy Trainer. Combining a strong academic science background with almost twenty years commercial experience of industry research, analysis and training across a variety of "new technology" industries (including conventional and renewable energy), Dr Massey is expert in demystifying new technologies, presenting their commercial and business context and describing the economic and financial context of the markets in which they operate.

He delivers training globally, to senior executives from a range of organisations from project development to finance and has also developed educational material for both live and distance learning courses.

He holds a 1st Class Honours degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge, a PhD in Earth Sciences and a Diploma in Economics, Innovation and Sustainability.
