Title: Trees for Zambia
When: 08:00 01.07.2012 - 17:00 21.07.2012
Location: Zambia, Africa
Description: From 1 - 21 July 2012, Greenpop is hosting a reforestation and eco education campaign in Livingstone to kickstart an ongoing project to green and support the area.

You can be part of this exciting project! To make Trees of Zambia a success, we fully rely on the support of volunteers. As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in the project by helping us plant trees and involving the local community in the conservation of their environment. On top of that, you will be given the opportunity to take part in talks and discussions about issues such as climate change, deforestation and sustainability. These lectures and workshops will be hosted by professionals in the field, local NGOs, community leaders, as well as a member of the UNDP. The project will be an exciting conference of action, sharing, and learning!

Want to be part of this? Read the full details here: Trees for Zambia Volunteer Pack and book your place by emailing zambia@greenpop.org. Volunteers from African countries should email zambia@greenpop.org for local rates.

Trees for Fees: To get Trees For Zambia up and running we need volunteers & we need trees - both are equally important to the project. We’ve launched a campaign which allows people to raise funds for trees on Greenpop’s behalf from anywhere in the world and get their fees for the project reduced. Become an activist, raise funds for trees and join us in Zambia. Full details, click here: Trees for Fees Document

Objectives

With Trees for Zambia we will:
• Educate local children on environmental issues
• Promote conservation farming methods
• Initiate a culture of tree planting
• Develop a micro-nursery enterprise to financially support farmers

Trees will be planted within the Victoria Falls World Heritage site, Dambwa Forest and subsistence farming communities. We’ll also plant fruit trees and spread awareness at schools around Livingstone. In addition we will host workshops for subsistence farmers to promote conservation farming methods, since traditional farming methods contribute to land degradation and deforestation.

Trees for Zambia will be the start of an ongoing campaign to make Zambia a greener and more sustainable place.
