Liz Eglington: lizeglington@netconnect.co.za Motivation for the courses: v Organic farming is fast becoming main stream because of the pressures from consumers and environmentalists due to the wide spread long term damage caused to human health, soil and eco-systems by how most of our food is grown presently. Our food is killing us and the Planet. v South Africa is way behind the rest of Africa, I have just returned from the African Organic conference in Lusaka, Zambia. Uganda has 400,000 CERTIFIED organic farmers. Ethiopia 136,000, Tanzania has 113,000. South Africa? 400! v But where to go to learn organic farming? Unfortunately there are few facilities for farmers and serious home gardeners to go to learn practically, and I have been asked for many years to share what I have learned here over 13 years. v We are in the worst global Health and environmental crisis of all time. We need to grow our own food, and eat Real food that is alive and grown ethically and sustainably. v Compost is the building block and foundation of organic/natural/sustainable farming and home gardening. |
