| Description: | Arrangements for the cob convergence in September are continuing. Our aim this year is to bring the awareness of “Local is Lekker”. McGregor in many ways already understands Local is Lekker and practises this so we are calling on McGregorites or any one else out there who would like to particpate in being an example of environmentally friendly living to join us in making the Proudly McGregor Cob Convergence a showcase of a new way of life that does not impact negatively on our planet. This year the convergence is again taking another form. It will have many parts but the main ones will be: · Opening snacks and cocktails at Deli Girls (a strawbale building) Two days of speeches and related tours on 22 and 23 September 2012 Examples of Natural Pools, compost toilets, various aspects of solar, and recycling, with items made from recycled materials. On the 24th September the “Proudly McGregor Sustainable Fair” at Deli Girls coupled with tours of Heritage houses Tours of Heritage Houses on the 24th September 2012 Proudly McGregor Sustainable Fair 24th September The Proudly McGregor Sustainable Fair will be a showcase of what McGregorites and others have to offer in the seeking to minimise one’s carbon footprint. So we are calling for people to put up stalls and sell, display, inform - their wares and ideas to raise the awareness of planetary healing: Already there will be displays of · Solar equipment and displays of alternative technology · Information and ideas on recycling · Examples, photographic and models, of different types of natural building e.g. cob, adobe, wattle and daub, straw bale, houses, · Compost toilets, grey and waste water management · Renewable energies/Alternative Technologies · Vermiculture – earth worm farming · Permaculture – working with nature rather than against nature · Tea and refreshment stalls plus take aways. All applications for stalls need to be either local McGregor or examples or contributions to minimising our carbon footprint.
