There are two vacancies, for an Animal Ecophysiologist and an Animal Evolutionary Biologist, at the University of the Western Cape.

Starting date: 1 January 2014

The successful applicants will be required to:

• teach at both the undergraduate and Honours level;
• conduct research in whole Animal Ecophysiology and Evolutionary Biology (respectively);
• supervise postgraduate students and;
• assume departmental administrative responsibilities, commensurate with these positions.

The successful candidates should have successful experience in teaching large classes of students, from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds.

Candidates for both positions must have a PhD, or they must be in the process of submitting/completing a PhD in an appropriate discipline, and must have an appropriate track record of research outputs (including postgraduate student supervision). Applicants with postdoctoral work experience and research grant generation will have an added advantage. Preference will be given to those applicants for the post in whole Animal Ecophysiology that have worked with vertebrates. Applicants with a background in Human Physiology will not be considered.
