The Green Times

Climate change is the most widespread & complex problem humanity has ever faced! There is no time to waste and we need to turn green talk into profound green action. This is the intention of the GREEN TIMES.

Contribute Here

DonorsGreen Times is a social-environmental and educational news platform responding to the biggest story of the 21st century – climate change.

Climate change is also be the biggest health threat of this century. So it’s crucial to be informed on a day-to-day basis of the unfolding crisis and what you can do about it.

Yet the main news media still neglect this important news to the detriment of all of us and our children. Change is facilitated through information. Lack of awareness is now dangerous to our survival.

Worldwide there is an escalating need for the news media to inform the public about climate and environmental solutions and constructive responses, yet particularly in the developing world this is not happening. Africa is simultaneously the most vulnerable continent to climate change and the most ignorant too.

For the first 5 years our work was privately funded by the Editor, with some corporate and industry support. However, this was not a sustainable model. It is now up to our community of readers to ensure we can keep this up and inspire a culture of responsibility and accountability towards the Earth.

How you can help

Support by donating a monthly, or once off, amount via EFT. This way we aim to, in time, cover our running costs and train and appoint eco journalists to cover stories across South Africa. Currently we are working without any sponsorship at all, so this is a volunteer platform dedicated to serving the greater good and a sustainable future.

CONTRIBUTE AS A WRITER

  • If you are a trained writer you could help cover events – learn about climate and environmental science, constructive responses and meet the country’s hands-on and pro-active green leaders. Your life will never be the same. Be part of the solution.
  • We take on qualified journalists as interns to learn the craft of writing for the earth, while deepening your environmental understanding and the role of mankind in transforming how we live and work. Earn your service hours with us in a positive and enthusiastic environment, grow yourself and your CV.
  • If you love social media and would like to intern for us, we need you.
  • Please send us stories (along with appropriate images, captions and image credits) via a message on our Facebook page. We are struggling to cope with the amount of email spam we receive so we are not giving out email addresses anymore.
