mouse, blogs, Twitter and iPods
nature thrives outside my pane
Then robbers came and ruined it all
I was left to
emerald kikuyu tingling underfoot,
beetles, bird call and butterfly
wild Jasmine blooms scent
thrills through my soul
and as the skin of blackberry
cracks twixt molar and tongue
its sweetness chides me:
This is what technology has done.
One day I’ll Facebooks
of nature’s loved ones
who had to join legions
of Mammoth and Dodo
A fact or two that
Cyberspace won’t
care to know.
There were a total of 12 entries from around the country. SAWC runs monthly competitions offering a variety of writing genres and different forms. The Circle was started in 1960 by Fay Goldie, as the Durban Writer’s Circle.
