Cape Town Permaculture Garden Party
May 30, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
A permaculture gathering is being held on Saturday 30 May at Tyisa Nabanye in Tamboerskloof, Cape Town, ahead of the Permaculture Festival in June in Plettenberg Bay. Tyisa Nabanye is an urban agriculture organisation based at the old military base and Erf 81, in central Cape Town, and the members have kindly agreed to host this gathering and support it.
The idea is to bring together permaculture practitioners and friends from around Cape Town, to meet each other and raise questions and issues around a range of relevant themes. There is space for workshops (so far, composting and an indigenous food forest), as well as a show-and-tell or demonstration that participants wish to bring along.
The themes proposed so far are:
- energy and technology
- community and learning
- fertility
- propagation and seed
- food production
- food and medicine
- food preparation
- water
- building
- mushrooms
- toilets and sanitation
- economics
The organisers hope to invite guests in the fields to host open discussions about these various themes, together with visitors on the day, so that they are able to meet with others interested in the same fields, and begin to think about how they can support each other and what sorts of issues are important.
The entry fee, at this stage, is a contribution, and the following sorts will be welcome.
- vegetarian plate of snacks
- home grown vegetables
- manure
- straw
- indigenous trees and shrubs (to be specified)
- seedlings
- coffee
- tea
- a demonstration
- volunteering on the day
- hosting theme discussions
- cash donation - to sponsor participants to attend the Permaculture Festival in June
- music, art , performance, media
If you would like to contribute to any of these discussions and themes, contact the organisers.
Information will be shared on Facebook at the following link:
Please feel free to share this information in your networks, and any inputs that you might have. This gathering is being organised on a voluntary basis and is participant-driven, without any funding. It is hoped to raise some funds to sponsor some people to get to the Permaculture Festival in June.
Please bring your own cup, bowl and spoon and one or two extras on the day.
Your suggestions and contributions are most welcome. For further information or to contribute to any of the discussion areas email permacultivatorsa@gmail.co
