Two Oceans Marathon Clean & Green Demonstration

Join in any time between 7.30 and 10am for as long as you like.

In solidarity with Waste Reduction Far South, Sun Valley Eco Watch is joining the movement to reduce single use plastic in our area.

We’ll gather on the Sun Valley side of the water table at the robot at the corner of Corsair Drive and Kommetjie Road, but we may move further into Sun Valley, so look out for us along Corsair Drive.

Let’s work with Two Oceans Marathon water table volunteers to help them keep the litter to the minimum, and not get in their way, or in the way of the runners.

Kommetjie, Capri, Sunnydale, Glencairn, Simon’s Town, Scarborough, Masiphumelele and Ocean View residents are welcome to join us.

Remember to try not to bring single use plastic – only reusable water bottles, coffee cups, etc.

Objectives:

Encourage runners to:

• Carry their own water, and therefore refuse plastic sachets.
• Use the bins provided for sachets and other litter. Keep the route clean. Don’t litter!

By:

• Cheering loudly for runners who carry their own water in hydration packs or water bottles.
• Waving placards with positive slogans such as “Run Green”, “Carry Your Own”, Save our Planet”, “Stop Single Use Plastics”, “Keep Sun Valley Clean”, “Bin it to Win it”.
• Offering water refills for those with bottles/hydration packs/reusable cups. Bring a flask of clean water if you like.
• Helping TOM officials keep the area clean, if necessary.
• Being friendly, welcoming and entertaining with music, chants, funny outfits e.g. weird hats and hair! GREEN THEME!
