The state is working with Chinese investors to push through the Musina-Makhado Special Economic Zone in the Limpopo valley.

This article looks at the findings of the environmental impact report, as well as what came out of public participation meetings this week.

The metallurgical processing complex will see 6000 hectares of pristine bush making way for a power station, steel smelting plant and other dirty and thirsty activities in this water scarce region.

Tourism and agriculture will be impacted and carbon emissions will go through the roof.
